Our facility is where the magic of wastewater testing and scientific exploration comes to life. Here’s a glimpse of what goes on:
As pioneers in toxic wastewater vermifiltration, our innovation center is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of scientific knowledge. Our hydrobiologists and megadrilogist specialists delve into diverse research areas, including worm species, substrate alternatives, microbial adaptation, and more.
Yes! The insulation of the substrate and the natural chemical, physical, and biological reactions within the drilosphere keeps the habitat in the DrilO2 protected from the heat, cold, wind, and more.
We collaborate with premier labs in the Pacific Northwest, including Anatek Labs, Pacific Rim Labs, and, Umpqua to ensure accurate and comprehensive testing of samples.
Vermifiltration is derived from two Latin roots: ‘Vermi-‘ from vermis, meaning ‘worm,’ and ‘Filtration’ from filtrare, meaning ‘to filter’ or ‘strain.’ Together, vermifiltration describes the process of treating wastewater by utilizing a biofilter composed of earthworms and their associated microorganisms to effectively break down and cleanse contaminants.
Our testing covers a range of contaminants including but not limited to BOD, TSS, Nitrogen (TKN, ammonia/ ammonium, and nitrate/nitrite), coliforms, PCB’s, PFA’s, PAH’s and more with significant reductions observed across the board.
All conventional wastewater treatment systems have some sort of brine, sludge or other unwanted byproduct that needs safe removal. Many of these systems use polymers, coagulants and other chemicals in their process that require some sort of disposal method. There are no undesirable byproducts with our patented vermifiltration process in most applications – only vermicompost.
